Growing up, Joey Nelson was exposed to the sawmill industry through a family business. He developed a stronger interest in the industry during college, particularly in the applications of laser scanning in sawmills. As an electrical engineer, Joey knew he could build a better laser scanner to improve recovery in many different aspects of sawmill operations. With that vision in mind, Joey founded JoeScan in 1999. Since introducing the first JS-20 scan head to the market in 2002, Joey has continued to make scanning simpler and more reliable.
