Growing up, Joey Nelson was exposed to the sawmill industry through a family business. He developed a stronger interest in the industry during college, particularly in the applications of laser scanning in sawmills. As an electrical engineer, Joey knew he could build a better laser scanner to improve recovery in many different aspects of sawmill operations. With that vision in mind, Joey founded JoeScan in 1999. Since introducing the first JS-20 scan head to the market in 2002, Joey has continued to make scanning simpler and more reliable. Joey regularly speaks at industry events, and he is committed to developing and manufacturing products that meet the demands of the forest products industry.
